Another Podium Finish in New Jersey

|
Jamie Slone of the Slone Racing #6 GoPro/Molecule Ford Mustang FR500S arrived in New Jersey ready for round 6 of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge looking to move up on the podium after a third place finish at Lime Rock. With road racing ace Terry Borcheller having to start from the back due to an ALMS conflict it gave the leading qualifiers a chance to win one.
Slone qualified in 3rd and on the first lap had moved into second place when a first lap accident brought out the yellow flags. The clean up took a long time and when the restart happened it was a nine lap shootout to the finish. Andrew Caddell lead the way down into turn one with Slone on his tail for the first two laps. Slone added, “ We made a big change before the race in an attempt to win as the car we had was very loose and at best a third place car. The change helped but created a big push and after hanging with Andrew for a couple of laps he easily pulled away and I just held on for second. My hero of the race was Tony Buffamonte! Borcheller showed up on his bumper and Tony held him off for 4 laps and goes to show it can be done! If I can just get my car dialed in I’d have a real shot. We have noticed some set up differences in some of the fast cars and will try to make ours better. I want to thank my sponsors, crew and family for their support this year. It has been a dream come true to race a full season in a pro series. The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge has been so much fun to compete in and the organizers have done a terrific job with their customer service and making us feel so comfortable.”
Slone still remains second in points and has grown his lead by 24 over Mike McGovern. Tony Buffamonte is in fourth an additional 10 points back. Rounds 7 & 8 of the Miller Cup takes place at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT September 19-21st, a double-header and the finale to the 2008 season.
