Slone 2nd in Bondurant Championship!

Jamie Slone captured second place in the inaugural Bob Bondurant Championship Racing Series in Phoenix, Arizona.  At seasons end Slone was actually tied in points after 18 races but Neil Alberico was awarded the championship due to more race wins.

Slone said, “It was an honor to be a part of the inaugural year of the Bob Bondurant Championship Series which uses the same Formula Mazda car I own and race in other series across America.  Getting second is a tough pill to swallow since I came here to win this championship.  Looking back at it I can identify a number or reasons why we tied but that’s all a part of racing.  The fact of the matter is Neil won more races than I did and is a deserving champion.  He’s fast, good looking, well spoken and a nice kid and I wish him the best of luck.  I’d like to thank Bob Bondurant and his staff for a great job in their first year and I wish them much success in the years to come.”

GoPro onboard for Sonoma Grand Prix

GoPro the #1 video camera for motorsports has joined with Jamie Slone for a shot at the biggest Formula Mazda race in America this year.  August 21st brings the Formula Car Challenge support race for the Indy Car Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway.  Slone comes to Indy car weekend fresh from capturing second place in the inaugural Bondurant Racing Championship which features the Formula Mazda.  Slone says, “GoPro has been a supporter of mine for 5 years now and has given me another shot at getting on that podium.  Bondurant has joined the team as well and I plan on capturing all the action with GoPro’s awesome HD video camera.”

In September Slone contests for the Formula Mazda National Championship at the SCCA Runoffs to be held once again at the world famous Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Slone adds, “ I had the pole at the SCCA Runoffs in ’08.  I ran the fastest time in practice in ’09 but was declared ineligible to compete due to a points qualification error by the SCCA.  I am as motivated as I’ll ever be for another shot at the title this year.’

Jamie Slone captured third place in the Jim Russell Championship Series race at the Indy Car Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway. Slone qualified 9th in the largest JRCS field at Infineon to date but due to a last lap, last turn spin Slone had to start from back.

When the green flag dropped the crowd had swelled to 40,000 people and Slone took advantage of a multiple car accident in turn two to sneak into third position. Racing action was stopped for multiple laps  until the wreckage was cleaned up.  With little time remaining it was to be a 6-lap shootout and Slone got a great restart and held a sizeable gap to fourth place.

Slone said, “My experience and assertiveness paid off today as I weaved through the multi-car accident.  On the restart I stayed right with the leaders for a few laps but made a big mistake in the carousel and barely saved it so I just settled in to hold on to third place.  I was learning by the minute as I have only been in the car once for a test prior to this weekend.  The FJR-50 has downforce and ground effects and is faster than a Formula 3 car.  I had the time of my life out there today!”
